Key findings
UNIA publishes in this report various figures for the year. In total UNIA has registered 6602 complaints and opened 2017 new files. For race discrimination, 782 cases were opened, 34,8% of all files and a rise of 12% from 2016. For religious beliefs, 319 cases were opened with 92% of them related to Islam. The number of cases related to internet and social media and in society has reduced, following a significant increase following the attacks in France and Belgium in previous years. 85% of the files related to religious belief relate to Islam.
